| Give Sadaqah to the poor on behalf of oneself and one's minor children. Unlike Zakaat, it is not necessary for this wealth to be in one's possession for a full year. *Note: This Sunnah is not particular to Ramadan only. It should be done throughout the year, but is greatly emphasized in the month of Ramadan, as are all other good deeds. | | |
| Recite the following du'a excessively, especially on the nights of Qadr (the odd nights in the last 10 days of Ramadan.)
Allahumma innaka 'afuwun tu hibbul 'afwa f'a fu 'anni Oh Allah, You are the One who forgives greatly, and you love forgiving, so forgive me. (AHMAD, IBN MAJAH, TIRMIDHI) *Note: Keep in mind that we are now in the 2nd 10 days of Ramadan wherein Allah SWT forgives the most sins. This du'a would be very helpful to read as often as possible during this time. | | |
| Have something to eat before sunrise (suhoor.) Although one can eat at any time in the night, it is preferable to delay the meal until just before sunrise. The Prophet (S)'s suhoor normally consisted of just dates and water. The objective is not to eat to one's fill, thereby removing the difficulty of fasting during the day. | | |
| The Prophet (S) would always wait with the person meeting with him until the person departed. He would not remove his hand from the person shaking it until the other removed his. He would not turn his face away from anyone who was speaking to him. If someone wished to whisper something to him, he would bring his ear close to the person and not remove it until the speaker had finished. He gave great importance to everyone who was in his company. **Edit: Continue to check the site every Sunday inshaAllah throughout Ramadan. Though I don't want to lead anyone to waste time on Xanga, but the readers have suggested it will be more beneficial to continue with the sunnahs during this time. Also, have a safe and productive Ramadan. The angel Jibra'il (A) cursed those who do not take advantage of this month when they are blessed with it, and the Prophet (S) said 'ameen' to this. Do as many good deeds as possible and constantly ask for forgiveness. That said, have a good one inshaAllah :) | | |
| Greet loudly enough for the other person to hear. (BUKHARI) **I thought it was interesting how this is actually mentioned in hadith. We might think it's obvious that one should greet loudly, but I've often noticed people quickly mumbling their salaam as if they're saying it just because they have to. It should be said loud and clear and with feeling. | | |
